UI/UX Designer at Calthorpe Analytics

Berkeley, CA

UrbanFootprint is changing the way that people design cities. Our web-based software connects real-world geospatial maps with deep analytics to give urban planners and designers insight about how future growth will affect communities. We are trying to turn a complex, often manual, tool-heavy process into a single seamless experience. From initial planning of what goes on the ground, to deep data analysis and visualization, we let the user see environmental, social, and fiscal impacts of their plans.

We believe that a beautiful, engaging experience now will allow for smarter, more sustainable cities in the future. UrbanFootprint combines challenges of 2D and 3D map interaction, data visualization, and comparative analytics. Our users have a wide range of technical abilities, from small city planners with minimal geospatial experience to data-hungry power users at large architecture and engineering firms. Other geospatial products are feature rich and often hard to use, but ours is tailored to the planning process.

Ideal candidates should have a passion for civic issues, and an interest in diving deep into the current urban planning world to understand existing workflows, conventions, terminology, and technology both on and off of a computer.
